The Drum is the heart-beat of Music...the Music is the Power of Rhythm!

Before we are even born we all experience the "surround-sound" of  the drum through our own mothers heart-beat.

Thus, as our ancient ancestors knew, we instinctively know, and are drawn to this very human and elemental rhythm which contains the power to soothe, heal or energize.

Many thousands of years ago, the playful and intuitive Earth's First People, also known as our ancient ancestors, discovered that sound, when structured into rhythm brought together and contained elemental healing and energizing power.

Through work, play, imagination and intuition, the Earth's First People found out that playing music brought them together. They found that loads became lighter when everyone was in step.

The Circle was seen by the Earth's First People as a symbol of unifying power, basically bringing people together to work as a team to problem-solve

The Medicine Drum builds on the ancient design of  the Circle to share and experience with others the healing, soothing and energizing power of rhythm through creating our own musical

Drummer Facilitator Fred May

                             

Drums, percussion, arts educator, music therapist,drum facilitator, composer, producer and photographer for Power of Rhythm Multi-Cultural  Show, Fred has led an interesting life. Starting in 1979, he co-wrote the theme song for CTV's show "Live it Up." This particular song was engineered by well-known producer, composer and musician Daniel Lanois.He has also written music for CBC's show "This Land."
Fred has toured throughout Canada and the U.S.A with recording artists "Sheriff",and "White Frost " and The Platters in 2005. He has been a member of the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) since 1976.
Fred and his partner, Ruth have recently completed their very well-received fall 2005 Elemental Native "World Peace Tour."
